Lisa Zimmer grew up in large family in Dearborn, Michigan. After obtaining her nursing degree from Henry Ford Community College, she worked at Sinai Hospital in the surgical unit. Following Sinai Hospital, she worked as a charge nurse for the American Red Cross. During this time, she became reacquainted with high school friend, Joe Zimmer, whom she married shortly after.
Lisa resigned from her nursing career in 1990 and founded “Just for Kids.” As a mother of three young boys, she managed to begin fundraising and develop the organization beyond her greatest expectations. Her husband took an overseas job in 1994, and the family moved to Munich, Germany.
While Lisa was away, “Just for Kids” continued to grow. A donation of $100,000 was given to the new Mott Children’s Hospital for the construction of an indoor park for the children.
“Just for Kids” began as a girl’s simple wish to fulfill the needs of children and their families. Now, a decade later, the organization has grown beyond its expected potential and fulfilled the wishes of hundreds of deserving children and their families.
Lisa and Joe reside in Northville, Michigan, with their three sons, Benjamin, Alex and Jonathan.
